Showing yourself some self love can come in many forms. A favourite way of mine is with food, particularly chocolate, and also particularly baked goods. Here we have both! Whip this small batch up in no time and hog them all to yourself if you like, or spread the love and share with your valentine. My kiddos say sharing is caring!

Chocolate Cookies with Smarties
- Prep time: 10 minutes
- Bake time: 8-10 minutes
- Yields: 1 dozen
Ingredients
- 113g butter (softened)
- 75g sugar
- 125g brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 125g flour
- 15g cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 75g smarties
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
- In a medium bowl, combine, butter, sugar, and white sugar with electric mixer.
- Beat in egg and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- In a separate bowl whisk together, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add in flour mixture to butter mixture, and stir with wooden spoon until combined. (Arm workout)
- Fold in smarties.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, until cracks form on top and sides are slightly crisp.
Looks fantastic! It’s been a while since I’ve read about Smarties — the Philippines used to have ’em but Nestle stopped selling them here. Maybe M&Ms would work as a substitute?
